Water well contractors drilling for farm irrigation, domestic drinking water, and residential ground-source heat pump (GSHP) loops frequently struggle with narrow rural roadways, residential gates, and mixed ground strata (soft mud, sand, riverbed gravel, and hard granite bedrock). Bulky rigs cannot access these locations, while low-powered rigs suffer severe delays in hard rock.
The Kaishan KW280 solves this dilemma with an ultra-slim 1,750 mm transport width and a 6.6m long-stroke mast. Capable of handling standard 6-meter drill pipes, the KW280 cuts pipe-extension connection times in half while achieving drilling penetration speeds up to 10 times faster than traditional rotary table rigs. Drillers can freely switch between high-pressure air hammer percussion and positive-displacement mud drilling without modifying the power head.
Powered by a fuel-efficient 75 kW Yuchai industrial diesel engine driving a parallel gearbox with independent oil pumps. Delivers ample hydraulic flow, low fuel consumption, and simple field serviceability.
Unlike typical compact rigs restricted to short 1.5m or 3m rods, the KW280's heavy mast offers a 6.6m one-time advance stroke, allowing the direct use of standard 6m drill pipes (⌀76/89/102/114mm), cutting rod extension labor in half.
Patented composite arm design with dual lifting cylinders delivers 17T (170 kN) rig lifting force with built-in cylinder safety stoppers, ensuring dependable pullback during deep casing and deep rod extraction.
Four heavy hydraulic legs provide 1.5m of vertical lifting stroke (1.45m ground clearance). Ensures rock-solid chassis leveling on uneven terrain and allows crane-free self-loading/unloading onto flatbed transport trailers.
With a narrow 1,750 mm body width and 7.5T operating weight, the KW280 moves effortlessly through narrow rural gates, orchards, and residential courtyards with rubber or steel crawler tracks protecting paved surfaces.
Hydraulic top drive with fast distribution valve offers 3-gear regulation up to 130 rpm and 5,000 N·m torque. Includes an automatic lubricator to constantly oil the DTH hammer, doubling tool service life.

Kaishan LGCY-18/17 or KSCY-580/13 (17–20 bar, 17–20 m³/min) for fast DTH hammer penetration in hard bedrock.
