Features two symmetrically arranged rectangular-coordinate universal booms with 1800 mm boom extension, 1600 mm feed extension, 360° rollover, and automatic parallelism. Completely eliminates blind spots, covering expansive cross-sections (up to 8698 mm width × 7870 mm height) for fast blast hole drilling, crosscut opening, and roof bolting.
Fitted with two independent high-frequency hydraulic rock drills (2×HC95LMH / RD22U) delivering 21/22 kW per drifter at 53/62 Hz for Φ42–102 mm blast holes. Two separate 75 kW electric motor circuits drive axial variable-displacement piston pumps and a 400 L oil tank, maximizing penetration speed and steel service life.
Built on a 22,000 kg 4WD articulated carrier powered by a Cummins B3.9CS4-130C diesel engine (96 kW) with hydraulic torque converter + gearbox, enclosed wet bridge brakes, 120 L fuel capacity, and a telescopic FOPS & ROPS safety roof (2400/3100 mm height), with an optional fully enclosed air-conditioned cab available.

The KJ421 is engineered for tunnel cross-sections ranging from 16 m² up to 68 m². Its twin K 40 booms deliver a total working coverage reach of 8698 mm in width and 7870 mm in height, providing double the excavation speed of single-boom jumbos.
The KJ421 features two completely independent 75 kW electric-hydraulic power units (150 kW total), each with dedicated axial variable-displacement piston pumps. This ensures that each boom and HC95LMH/RD22U drifter operates at full hydraulic capacity without pressure drop during concurrent drilling.
