Specifically engineered for large-diameter drilling up to 254 mm (10 inches). Efficiently handles 4", 5", 6", and 8" DTH hammers (K4–K8) with Φ76, Φ89, or Φ102 mm heavy drill rods, making it ideal for solar photovoltaic (PV) ground piles and heavy quarry benching.
Features a high-reduction gearbox driven by dual hydraulic motors delivering over 4,000 N·m torque at 0–110 rpm. Paired with a standard FH32 rotary shock buffer, it isolates percussive vibration and prevents drill-string seizure in broken strata (f=6–20).
The propulsion system uses a heavy-duty hydraulic motor matched with an industrial 24A roller chain for a 3,820 mm stroke and 20 kN lifting capacity. The upgraded hydraulic circuit utilizes high-strength cast-iron gear pumps for high-pressure endurance and long service life.
Powered by a 73.5 kW Yuchai DKC2G3 diesel engine with an integrated digital controller for real-time operating monitoring. Accommodates optional high-capacity dry cyclone dust collectors (QZA-140 with 16 elements or QZA-160 with 20 elements) for clean drilling.

A: Solar ground-mount projects require large-diameter pile holes (up to 254 mm / 10 inches) in rocky ground. The KG550 supports large K6/K8 hammers, heavy Φ89/Φ102 mm drill pipes, and delivers 4,000 N·m torque, making it exceptionally fast and cost-effective for pile hole drilling.
A: When drilling large-diameter holes with 6" or 8" DTH hammers, high shock loads are transmitted back up the drill string. The FH32 buffer dampens impact shocks, protecting gearbox teeth, hydraulic rotation motors, and mast bearings from premature fatigue.
